The Greenville Parks and Recreation Department (GPRD) is a division of the City of Greenville. We provide recreational opportunities for youth ranging from baseball and softball to basketball.
Yes, we are. In spring and summer youth sports we participate in Dixie Baseball and Softball. In other sports, such as basketball and track and field, we take part in Alabama Recreation and Parks Association sponsored programs.
Children ages 4 and up can take part in some of our programs. However, eligibility does hinge on birthday guidelines established by such organizations as Dixie and ARPA. Check with our office to make certain your child is eligible for the league he or she wants to participate in.
On your initial visit, we will ask for a birth certificate that will remain on file as long as your child participates in Greenville Parks and Recreation Department (GPRD) programs. Each year you will need to update insurance information and provide us with shirt sizes for your child.
Each child must have insurance coverage before he or she can participate. If you don't have your own policy, we can provide (for a small fee) a policy through one of our affiliate organizations.
The registration fee is $35 for the first child and $25 for each additional child (living in the home)
In baseball and softball, your registration fee covers the cost of a cap and shirt. In basketball, shirts are provided.
Canceling games is something we don't like to do, so we wait until all doubt is removed before making that call. When a decision is made, we will post that information on our GPRD App. Download the app here:
We'd like to say it is, but because of rainouts and other unforeseen problems cancellations may occur. We do adjust the schedule from time to time for makeup games, etc. This information will be communicated through our app.
